Tips: Physical Activity

Creating an exercise plan

  • Choose a physical activity you like to do and JUST DO IT!
  • Choose activities you like that will fit into your schedule.
  • Pick an activity that's right for your body. For instance, swimming is easier on arthritic joints.
  • Exercise regularly. Exercise helps our bodies the most when we do it often.
  • While jogging or walking quickly you should still be able to hold a conversation.
  • Use different jogging, walking, or biking paths to vary your routine.
  • If you find it too difficult to be active after work, try exercising before work.
  • Wait until later in the day to exercise if you are too stiff in the morning.
  • Borrow exercise videos from your local library, or rent them from the video store.
