Tips: Physical Activity


Increasing daily activity

  • Your exercise can be done all at one time, or spread out over the day.
  • Small changes can make a big difference over time.
  • Park further away, stretch, climb stairs.
  • On really busy days, try doing 10 minutes of exercise three times a day.
  • For a quick workout, try climbing your stairs for 5-10 minutes.
  • Do a few minutes of fast jumping jacks when TV commercials come on.
  • Exercise while watching TV. Use hand weights, jog in place, or stretch.
  • Walk, cycle, jog, skate, etc., to work, school, the store, or place of worship.
  • Park the car farther away from where you are going.
  • Get on or off the bus several blocks away.
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.
  • Go out for a short walk before breakfast, after dinner or both!
