Tips: Physical Activity

Exercising safely

  • Don't hurt yourself! Exercise at a comfortable pace and build up.
  • Warm-up before you exercise. Try walking at your normal pace while swinging your arms.
  • Always wear safety gear when you exercise. If you exercise outside at dawn or dusk, wear reflective clothing. Wear a bike helmet when riding a bike.
  • Follow the 10% rule. Never increase your exercise program by more than 10% a week.
  • Don't work out too soon after eating or when it's too hot or cold outside.
