Tips: Physical Activity


What counts as exercise

  • Weeding & vacuuming aren't just chores. They are good for your health!
  • Don't put off gardening or home repair chores - they count as exercise, too!
  • Do housework yourself instead of asking another family member to do it.
  • Work in the garden or mow the grass. Rake leaves, prune, dig and pick up trash.
  • Turn off the self-propel option on your lawn mower or vacuum cleaner.
  • When watching TV, sit up instead of lying on the sofa. Throw away your remote control.
  • Instead of asking someone to bring you a drink, get up and get it yourself.
  • Stand up while talking on the telephone.
  • Turn up your radio or CD player and dance!
